ndonesia lost to Qatar 6-5 on Sunday in its second AFC U-19 Championship soccer match after trailing 6-1, but the host country remains in contention with a single Group A tilt remaining.
The Young Garuda squad will have to beat the United Arab Emirates in its final group stage match on Wednesday to qualify for the knockouts based on head-to-head rules.
The UAE currently sits atop the group with six points, following 2-1 and 8-1 victories it earned over Qatar and Chinese Taipei, respectively, in its first two games.
Qatar is in second place with three points and holds the tie-breaker over third-place Indonesia, which also has three points thanks to a 3-1 win over Chinese Taipei on
Thursday. Qatar plays Chinese Taipei in its final group match.
Should Indonesia beat the UAE and Qatar win, the three teams will be tied for six points, making goal differential the deciding factor in which team advances. (nkn)
