gray European-style house in Garum subdistrict, Blitar, East Java, has found instant fame after the screening of Bohemian Rhapsody, the latest Freddy Mercury biopic that tells the musical odyssey of British rock band Queen.
A photo of the house, which has Bohemian Rhapsody embossed on a concrete ribbon hanging from its front façade, went viral after the movie hit local cinemas.
Muslikah, the owner of the house, said although it was modeled on an antique European house, it was relatively new having been built around 1990. She bought it from a Blitar artist named Trimo Istiono in 2005.
The 50-year-old added that she was surprised to find that a photo of her house had gone viral.
Muslikah said the house became famous after the movie was released in local cinemas.
“When I bought it the design was exactly like it is now. I have never renovated it. The engraving also came with the house,” she said.
The house is located on an 800-square meter plot, but the building is only 64 sq m and consists of a living room, bedroom and kitchen. (hol)
