S

outh Korean President Moon Jae-in extended his New Year's greetings to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo via Twitter in Indonesian, showing the close ties between the two Asian leaders.

"We remember the joys in our meetings as well as valuable friendship. We will always be with you on our way to peace and prosperity," Moon wrote through his official account on Thursday.

Moon — who was named Asia News Network’s Person of the Year for his efforts in brokering peace on the Korea peninsula — visited Indonesia in November last year, on the occasion of which the two leaders carried out a blusukan(impromptu visit) to a shopping center in Bogor, West Java.

Jokowi and Moon bought batik shirts before sipping on jasmine tea from a small beverage stall at Bogor Trade Mall.

Jokowi visited Seoul last September, which saw the pair go on another shopping spree at Dongdaemun Market amid their tight schedule.

It was not the first time for Moon to tweet in Indonesian.

Moon tweeted through his personal account, @moonriver365, about Jokowi’s visit to Seoul.
