A car caught fire on the Semanggi inner ring road leading to Cawang subdistrict in East Jakarta on Saturday evening.
The car was razed by fire in front of the Balai Kartini convention hall in Kuningan subdistrict, South Jakarta, as shown by a video uploaded to the Twitter account of the Jakarta Police traffic management center @TMCPoldaMetro.
No details about the cause of the fire have been provided.
Three police cars were shown to have blocked the road to prevent access.
The incident caused a long line of traffic from the Semanggi inner ring road to Kuningan.
The traffic information center manager of state-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga, Hervian, said the fire had been extinguished by 9.20 p.m. No fatalities were reported as the driver managed to get out of the car before it was engulfed by flames. (ars)
