A

brawl on Jl. Tanah Sereal Raya in Tambora, West Jakarta, over the weekend has claimed the life of 16-year-old Adam Ilham, police have said.

The incident involved youths from Tanah Sereal and Krukut.

“The victim is a resident of Tanah Sereal. [He] died after being stabbed several times,” Tambora Police chief Comr. Iver Son Manossoh said in a statement, according to tempo.co on Wednesday.

Iver said the incident occurred when Adam, along with three friends, stopped at a gas station to fill up their two motorcycles on Sunday at 4 a.m. After that they passed through Thalib alley in Krukut, where a group of youths was hanging out.

While passing through the area, Iver said, the victim and his friends reportedly taunted the group who then chased and threw rocks at them.

“While being chased, the victim fell off his motorbike, the perpetrators pounced on him and stabbed him to death,” he added.

Adam was rushed to a nearby health community center before being transferred to Tarakan General Hospital in Central Jakarta. He died at the hospital, Tambora Police criminal investigation chief Adj. Comr. Supriyatin said.

The police have arrested 13 people allegedly involved in the case six of whom are accused of being the masterminds behind the murder.

“After conducting tests, three of them tested positive for drugs,” Supriyatin said. (fac)
