Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and his wife Fery Farhati were in Singapore on Friday to visit former first lady Ani Yudhoyono, who is undergoing treatment for blood cancer.

Ani’s husband, sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, welcomed the couple at the National University Hospital in Singapore, where Ani has been receiving intensive medical care for the past month.

Through his official Instagram account, Anies shared his visit with his 2.4 million followers. In the caption of several photos he posted on Friday, Anies said Yudhoyono had explained the treatment process.

Anies expressed his wish for the former first lady to fully recover.

“Our prayers are for God to heal Ibu Ani and that she can return to her regular activities with her family and society,” Anies wrote in the caption of a post that had garnered nearly 24,000 likes as of Friday afternoon.

He also wished for Yudhoyono to be given strength and good health while accompanying his wife during the treatment process.

Yudhoyono announced in February that Ani had been hospitalized in Singapore since Feb. 2 after she was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer.

Yudhoyono’s eldest son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, ran against Anies and Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election. (rin)
