Electrical pole derails commuter train in Bogor, at least six injured

The train operator halts service between Bogor and Depok on Sunday.

A

commuter train running from Jatinegara in East Jakarta to Bogor in West Java was derailed in Cilebut in Bogor regency on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. when a power pole reportedly fell on it.

Bogor Mayor Bima Arya said six people, including the machinist, were injured and sent to a hospital. "There is a possibility that some victims broke their bones," Bima said as quoted by kompas.com.

In video footage widely shared on social media, passengers were spotted trying to get out of the derailed train. 

 
Train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), a subsidiary of state-owned railway company PT KAI, issued an apology, explaining that train service between Bogor and the Kota and Jatinegara stations in Jakarta had to be halted. 
 
"Officials from PT KAI and KCI are at the scene to rescue passengers," KCI spokesperson Eva Chairunisa said in a statement. She did not elaborating because the cause of the derailment was still being investigated.
