Prabowo Subianto is meeting his supporters in Merauke, Papua, on Monday for the first time as a presidential candidate.

Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, a spokesperson of the Prabowo camp, said the Gerindra Party chairman would head off to Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) after campaigning in the country’s easternmost province.

Pak Prabowo visits Merauke today, and then he will fly to Bali and Lombok,” he told kompas.com on Monday.

On Sunday, Prabowo, a former military general, visited Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi, where he spoke before thousands of supporters.

Meanwhile, Dahnil added, Prabowo's running mate Sandiaga Uno planned to hold campaigns in North Jakarta, East Jakarta and West Jakarta today.

Another spokesperson, Andre Rosiade, said Prabowo would hold a discussion with communities in Merauke.

“As usual, Pak Prabowo will talk about economic development, infrastructure, food resilience and so on. Most importantly, he will listen to aspirations from the community,” he said.

Andre said Sandiaga aimed to reach out to voters from the millennial generation in Jakarta, explaining that most of the undecided voters in the capital were of that age group.

Bang Sandi will talk about employment in the campaign. We hope we win in Jakarta,” Andre said. (das)
