The gas pipeline program is serving 86 percent of households in the South Sumatra city of Prabumulih.

“Prabumulih is the city with the largest gas network connections,” said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan in Jakarta over the weekend, adding that 42,668 homes had gas connections.

Jonan was speaking after launching the gas connection program in Talang Batu, Prabumulih ,on Saturday. The gas network project in the city started when the program started to serve 4,650 households in 2012, 32,000 households in 2016 and 6,018 households in 2018.

Meanwhile, by the end of the 2018, the gas network in South Sumatra had served 75,952 households and nationally, the project had already served 463,400 households, including 89,727 connections that were developed by state-owned energy company Pertamina and state-owned gas subholding company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN).

“In 2019, the government aims to expand the program to 78.216 more households in 18 locations,” he added.

The gas in Parabumulih is supplied by gas wells owned by PT Pertamina EP Asset II, a subsidiary of Pertamina, with a capacity of 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day. Total investment for the gas household project in the city stands at Rp190.3 billion (US$13.36 million). (bbn)
