SKK Migas program and communication division head Wisnu Prabawa Taher said SKK Migas had conducted initial tests on the potential of oil and gas reserves. “The result is good, but we have not come to a conclusion,” he said as reported by kontan.co.id on Sunday.

Wisnu said Kalimantan had shown the most potential.

SKK Migas, in cooperation with Caelus Energy, has started drilling Bella-3 well.

Caelus plans to carry out 1,100-meter-deep drilling in Bella-3 well, which was expected to be completed within one month.

He said the exploration drilling was needed to meet increased energy demands.

“We hope all relevant parties will support the exploration conducted by Caelus Energy South Bengara II Pte Ltd,” he added.

SSK Migas also said Sakakemang block in Banyuasian, South Sumatra, was projected to have oil and gas reserve of 2 trillion fed (TCF).

SKK Migas notes Indonesia has 128 basins, 54 of which have been explored and exploited. Indonesia currently has oil proven reserves of 3.2 billion barrel and proven gas reserves of 100 TCF.
