Abhan said the agency also recommended the KPU replace two people, namely deputy ambassador Krishna Hanan from the Overseas Elections Committee (PPLN) and Djadjuk Natsir as the postal voting coordinator.
ollowing the discovery of marked ballots in Malaysia, the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has recommended the General Elections Commission (KPU) hold a revote for postal service voting.
"We recommend the KPU hold a revote for the 319,293 voters in Kuala Lumpur who used postal voting as tomorrow is the counting day for overseas voting," agency head Abhan said on Tuesday.
Abhan said the agency also recommended the KPU replace two people, namely deputy ambassador Krishna Hanan from the Overseas Elections Committee (PPLN) and Djadjuk Natsir as the postal voting coordinator.
Polling in Malaysia took place on April 14.
Abhan said a team of officials from the agency and KPU had questioned seven PPLN members, three election supervisory committee members, two election witnesses and one person from the Embassy of Indonesia in Malaysia, and found evidence before giving the recommendation.
"We issued the recommendations because the postal vote did not meet procedures or mechanisms regulated in election legislation, with the discovery of election ballots cast by illegitimate voters," he said.
Abhan said the team had visited the locations in which the marked ballots were allegedly found; an empty store in Taman Universiti Sungai Tangkas Bangi and a house in Bandar Baru Bangi.
He said the team had requested to access the places but had not gained approval from the Malaysian police.
