Voting in several regions of Jayapura, Papua have been delayed owing to a lack of materials.

“Besides in Abepura district, voting has been delayed in three subdistricts in South Jayapura district,” Papua General Elections Commission (KPU) head Theodorus Kossay said in Jayapura on Wednesday as quoted by Antara.

Election materials such as ballots and ballot boxes have been sent to KPU Jayapura but have yet to be distributed to the polling stations in the aforementioned areas.

Voters had been at polling stations since 7 a.m. local time, but by the afternoon voting had not yet started.

“[Voting] is postponed until tomorrow morning because the ballots and ballot boxes have not arrived,” a polling station working committee member at polling station 15, Vim subdistrict, Abepura district, said. (kmt)
