P

resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo joined millions of voters on Wednesday in an election that will decide whether the former Jakarta governor gets a second term.

Jokowi was accompanied by First Lady Iriana, both of whom were wearing white, the same colored attire the incumbent and his running mate Ma'ruf Amin were pictured wearing on ballots. The members of the First Family submitted their ballots at polling station 08 in Gambir, Central Jakarta.

The incumbent and his wife joined other citizens and waited their turn to cast their ballots to choose the country's next president and representatives in legislative bodies. They were among 222 voters registered at the polling station.

When asked by journalists whether he was confident about winning his second five-year term, Jokowi said his belief was to be optimistic in everything that he did.

"We will see the results in a few hours, so let's just be patient," Jokowi told journalists after voting.

The 2019 presidential election pits Jokowi against challenger Prabowo Subianto. The quick-count results of the election will be aired starting 3 p.m. Jakarta time.
