T

he physical infrastructure of Jakarta’s LRT between Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and Rawamangun in East Jakarta is complete and it is ready for full-fledged operation once it receives the go-ahead from the Jakarta administration.

"The construction of the five stations [namely] North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Pulomas, Jakarta Equestrian and Velodrome [is complete]," LRT Jakarta corporate communication Melisa Suciati said on Thursday, wartakota.tribunnews.com reported.

She said the company was currently perfecting the systems at the stations, such as ticketing, tracks, communication, security and other facilities, to get ready for commercial operation.

"We have installed the systems. Now we are synergizing and perfecting them. We’ll perfect them while waiting for an instruction from the city administration to operate commercially," Melisa said.

She said LRT Jakarta had conducted operational trials for a month during the 2018 Asian Games and for two weeks in March along with Jak24 JakLingko microbuses.

The company has sent application letters to the Jakarta administration for the operation.

The city administration and city council have set a flat fare of Rp 5,000 (35 US cents) for the LRT Jakarta.

"We have also obtained the permits for our human resources and facilities," Melisa said. (ami)
