ith postelection riots in Central Jakarta subsiding on Thursday morning after two days, several mass transportation services have resumed normal services.
State-owned commuter line operator PT KCI spokeswoman Anne Purba said in a written statement on Thursday that the commuter train serving Palmerah Station and major transit point Tanah Abang Station had resumed operations as per Thursday morning.
During the riots on Wednesday, Palmerah Station and Tanah Abang Station were closed to passengers, while trains on the loop line from the Bogor, Depok, Nambo, Duri and Jatinegara stations only operated until Manggarai Station.
Despite resuming normal operations, Anne said the situation would be monitored as the stations were located near protest areas. “Passengers are encouraged to keep up-to-date on commuter train services through officers, the KAI contact center 121 and KCI official social media accounts,” she said.
On the other hand, city-owned transportation company MRT Jakarta suspended the operation of some of its subway stations on Thursday in prioritizing the safety, security and comfort of passengers.
“The subway stations from Senayan until Hotel Indonesia traffic circle are closed until further notice,” MRT Jakarta spokesman Muhamad Kamaluddin said in a written statement.
Hence, MRT trains will operate through seven stations only, from Lebak Bulus Grab Station to ASEAN Station, with the operating times remaining the same, from 5 a.m. to midnight.
