police officer has been injured after a group of unknown assailants fired at the National Police's Mobile Brigade headquarters (Mako Brimob) in Purwokerto, Banyumas regency, Central Java, early on Saturday.

A bullet shot from a car passing in front of the headquarters clipped the policeman's head, Chief. Brig. Imam Santoso.  

Banyumas Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Bambang Yudhantara Salamun and Central Java Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Agus Triatmaja confirmed the shooting had taken place and that an investigation was underway.

"It is still under investigation," Agus told the press on Saturday.

Imam was taken to Wijayakusuma Hospital in Purwokerto at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday, the hospital confirmed.

Imam received stitches for his wound and returned home Saturday afternoon. (ggq)
