"He suddenly acted like someone who suffers from a mental illness and is difficult to talk to," South Tangerang Police crime unit chief Adj. Comr. Alexander Yurikho said.
In an unexpected move, and as an effort to trick security personnel, Emiludin then seemingly pretended to have a mental illness, a police officer said.
South Tangerang Police crime unit chief Adj. Comr. Alexander Yurikho said a neighbor caught Emiludin while he was climbing over the fence of his targeted house.
"A neighbor saw the suspect climb up the fence of the house, and confronted him" Alexander said on Sunday as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
When the neighbor pressed Emiludin with questions, he remained silent.
"He suddenly acted like someone who suffers from a mental illness and is difficult to talk to," Alexander added.
He said some locals wanted to beat up the suspect for his alleged crime before he was handed over to the police for investigation.
From the probe, it was found that the suspect allegedly attempted to burglarize a house owned by Haris, 59.
"The owner of the house was not home [when the incident happened]. The house was quiet and the suspect tried to break into the house," Alexander said. (sau)
