P

resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has signed a regulation on Satu Data Indonesia an integrated data-management service, in accordance with a recent presidential regulation (Perpres).

As stipulated in Article 1, paragraph 1 of Perpres No 39/2019, Satu Data Indonesia will be a government agency to produce accurate, updated, integrated and accountable data, which is accessible and usable by central and regional governments.

Under the regulation, Satu Data Indonesia’s authority will consist of a Steering Council, Central Data Supervisory Institution, Central Data Trustee and Central Data producers, kontan.co.id reported on Thursday .

According to the Perpres there will be four principles for Satu Data Indonesia – fulfilling minimum standards, interoperability, collecting metadata and code references.

The standardized data is based on statistical and geospatial data and has been determined by the Data Supervisor, an institution under the central government that is authorized to carry out data supervision.

A minister or head of a government institution can decide on its standardized data for its internal utilization to carry out its tasks and its functions as long as the data is determined on the basis of the standardization by the Data Supervisory Institution.

The data will be equipped with metadata, the information on which must follow a specific structure and form and should refer to the standards and specification of metadata.

The regulation also stresses the important of data meeting the principle of interoperability – it should have consistent syntax, structure, scheme and composition and should also be stored in an open format that can be read by an electronic system. (bbn)
