Indonesians can observe on Wednesday a partial lunar eclipse, the first of only two that can be spotted in 2019.

The lunar eclipse can be seen in western Asia, countries in the Indian Ocean, large parts of Africa, the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean and Central Europe.

In Jakarta, the event can be observed starting at 1.42 a.m. on Wednesday, according to tribunnews.com.

The partial lunar eclipse phase will occur at 3.01 a.m. and the peak of the eclipse will be at 4.30 a.m.

At 6 a.m., the partial lunar eclipse will start to end and be complete by 7.17 a.m.

The event is safe to observe with the naked eye without any binoculars or telescopes.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth blocks sunlight from reaching the moon.

It is a result of the dynamics and movement of the sun and Earth on a full moon and can be predicted.
