P

olice in Musi Rawas regency, South Sumatra, have arrested a man who allegedly raped his neighbor after he found her breastfeeding her baby.

Musi Rawas Police chief Sr. Comr. Suhendro said on Thursday that the incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday after the man trespassed into his neighbor’s home.

Suhendro said that when he entered, only the woman and her baby were home, as her husband was out hunting toads.

The man immediately pulled her and threatened her with a sharp weapon, Suhendro said, alleging that he was aroused watching the woman breastfeed her child.

“The perpetrator pointed a knife at her and then raped her," he said as quoted by kompas.com. "The victim could not defend herself because the perpetrator threatened to kill her."

The police officer said that after returning home, the victim's husband found her wife crying. After she told her husband about the alleged incident, the couple filed a report with the police.

Suhendro said the police were questioning the perpetrator, who faces charges under articles 285 and 289 of the Criminal Code and a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment if found guilty. (dpk/bbn)
