laring emotion reportedly prompted a policeman to kill a fellow officer at the Cimanggis Police office in Depok, West Java, on Thursday.
The deadly shooting occurred at the police service center (SPK) at 8:50 p.m.
A police brigadier identified only as RT took offense when a chief brigadier, identified as RE, refused a request in a harsh tone while handling a case, Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told kompas.com.
The two policemen had been handling a brawl, in which RE had detained a suspect, FZ, with bladed weapons as evidence.
RT and his colleague reportedly requested that RE release the suspect not long after the latter’s parents arrived at the police office. That request was refused.
Argo said RT had felt that the refusal was expressed in a harsh tone.
Unwilling to accept such a response, RT then allegedly went to another room and took a HS9 model pistol.
“[RT] then shot RE seven times, hitting the chest, neck thigh and stomach,” said Argo.
RE’s body has been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for an autopsy.
“We are still investigating [the case],” said Argo. (tru)
