ndonesia brought home two titles from the 2019 Badminton Asia Junior Championships at Suzhou Olympic Sports Center in Suzhou, China, on Sunday.

The tournament is a continental junior individual championship for players under 19 years old.

Second-seeded pair Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin in the men’s doubles category defeated top seeds Di Ji Zian and Wang Chang of China 21-9, 15-21, 21-19 in Sunday’s final match.

Earlier, top seeds Leo and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil nailed the mixed doubles title after beating second seeds and home duo Feng Yan Zhe and Lin Fang Lin 16-21, 22-20, 22-20 in a one-hour and 19 minute battle.

“Thank God, we were able to win today. The victory has motivated us to perform better in the future, and stay hungry for more,” Leo said as quoted by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) website, badmintonindonesia.org.

Leo and Daniel had little trouble in the first game, which they won by a significant margin. However, things got heavier for the Indonesians as they entered the second game, which they lost due to a change in game play by their opponents.

Leo and Daniel regained their composure in the third game, which led them to the victory.

“We learned a lot from our previous encounter […]. They changed their style in the second game, which shook us but we managed to reclaim our domination in the decider,” said Leo.

China’s Zhou Meng as well as Li Yi Jing and Luo Xo Min won the men’s singles and women’s doubles titles, respectively. Meanwhile, Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn won the men’s singles category.
