andicrafts, processed food and industrial products were displayed for sale last week at the Central Java booth during the fourth Indonesia Festival at Krasnaya Presnya Park in Moscow, attracting many buyers.
Indonesian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus Wahid Supriyadi said the Central Java booth booked US$6 million in transactions, more than half of the total transactions of $10 million during the three-day expo, which ended on Sunday. This year’s festival was themed “Visit Wonderful Indonesia: Enjoy Your Tropical Paradise”.
A popular product was the Fine Choice biscuit, which received an order of three containers of valued at Rp 1.5 billion ($105,102). The biscuit, native to Semarang regency, Central Java, is mostly exported and sold online.
“We received an order for three containers worth Rp 500 million each,” said PT Choice Plus Makmur marketing director Irawati Lukito. “Our buyer wants to resell it in Russian supermarkets.”
In addition to the biscuit, the booth also displayed a variety of fruit chips, jellies, brown sugar, jamu (traditional herbal medicine), coffee, fake eyelashes, wooden handicrafts, bags and batik and lurik fabrics.
The owner of Batik Lurik Prasojo Klaten, Hanggo Wahyu Amerto, said he was satisfied with the festival.
“I hope to get a lot of new buyers from Russia. The governor helped [the owners of] local micro, small and medium enterprises like myself,” he said, referring to Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, who was at the festival promoting the province, as well as Borobudur temple, the Sangiran excavation site for ancient humans, the Dieng highland and the Karimunjawa Islands.
