ormer president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s mother, Siti Habibah, passed away at 07:21 p.m. on Friday at Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Cibubur, East Jakarta, after weeks of receiving treatment for her ailing health.
Her death was first revealed by Democratic Party deputy secretary-general Rachland Nashidik through a text message received by The Jakarta Post.
“The funeral service will take place at [Yudhoyono’s] family home in Cikeas [Bogor, West Java],” Rachland said on Friday.
He said Siti would be laid to rest on Saturday.
Democratic Party executives previously said that Siti had been admitted to the hospital on Aug. 8 because her condition suddenly dropped reportedly due to her old age, kompas.com reported.
The death of Yudhoyono’s mother came barely three months after the former president lost his wife and former first lady Kristiani Herawati, better known as Ani Yudhoyono, who passed away on June 1 after battling blood cancer since February. (afr)
