ollowing the cessation of its service to Bekasi, West Java, last month, the Railink airport train began operating from Manggarai Station in South Jakarta Saturday.
The move has been met with a positive response from passengers, who said Manggarai Station was easier to reach for people from Greater Jakarta.
Sari, a 24-year-old woman from North Jakarta, was among the passengers who boarded the train in Manggarai on Saturday afternoon. Having taken the train before, Sari said she was satisfied with its speed and comfort.
“I’ve taken the airport train before and I was satisfied with the service, that’s why I chose to take the train to go to the airport today. Furthermore, it’s faster to go by train than car,” she told The Jakarta Post.
Sari said she was glad the airport train could now be accessed from Manggarai Station as passengers from Bekasi or Bogor, West Java, could easily reach the station using the commuter line trains.
However, even though she received a discounted price of Rp 40,000 (US$2.83) compared to the standard Rp 70,000, she said the ticket price was still a little too expensive.
“The price is okay if you want to go to the airport by yourself but if you want to go with a group of five or six people it is more affordable to take an app-based taxi,” she said.
