ndramayu Regent Supendi has been arrested in a raid by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Indramayu, West Java, in connection to a graft investigation.

KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said the raid was conducted on Monday night. 

“There is suspicion of a transaction involving a project with the public works agency,” he told reporters on Tuesday, adding that about Rp 100 million was confiscated during the raid. 

He said eight people were arrested in the raid, including the regent, his aide, the head of the public works agency and several agency officials. 

“Five [of those arrested] were brought to the KPK office early this morning,” he said. “The five people, including the regent, are currently being interrogated.”

According to the Criminal Law Procedures Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of the case and of those arrested. (kmt)
