The government is upbeat that the United States will maintain the special trade status for Indonesia as most of the US’ concerns on trade privileges have been settled, a senior trade official has said. Deputy Trade Minister Jerry Sambuaga said in Jakarta on Monday that negotiations over three remaining issues that would enable Indonesia to continue to enjoy the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) could be concluded in December this year. He said the three issues were related to data localization, foreign ownership in insurance and reinsurance companies and business licenses.
