The earthquake struck at 1:05 pm local time with an epicenter 24 kilometers southwest of Sinabang, Simeulue regency at a depth of 13 kilometers.
A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Simeulue regency in Aceh on Tuesday, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.
The earthquake struck at 1:05 p.m. with an epicenter 24 kilometers southwest of Sinabang, Simeulue regency at a depth of 13 kilometers. The BMKG said the quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

The quake was also felt lightly in Medan and Nias, North Sumatra.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the Bantul quake at a magnitude of 6.2.
No casualties or damages have been reported as of the time of writing. (kmt)
