T

he National Police have made it possible for the public to apply for an international driver’s license online and avoid physical contact amid COVID-19 concerns.

As reported by kompas.com, applicants for the service will no longer be required to be physically present at the National Police Traffic Corps office as they will have the option to have their international driver’s license delivered directly to their home.

“The National Police Traffic Corps has adapted to the new normal, no longer requiring applicants to visit the Traffic Corps’ International Driver’s License unit,” Traffic Corps head Insp. Gen. Istiono said in a statement on Saturday.

The online application service is available at siminternasional.korlantas.polri.go.id.

After completing the personal data form, you will be required to upload a number of documents, including a photo of your valid driver’s license, ID card, passport, your most recent photo set against a blue background, and – if you are a foreign national – a copy of your permanent stay permit (KITAP).

You will then have to choose whether to pick up your international driver’s license physically at the Traffic Corps office or to have it delivered directly to your door via courier.

Once every digital form is completed and approved, you will be informed of the bank details needed to pay the online application fee.

Afterward, you will once again have to make an electronic confirmation of your online application.

“If every requirement is [fulfilled], our officers will print the international driver’s license and have it ready for pick-up in accordance with the applicant’s preferred [delivery method],” Istiono said.
