total of 167,653 students have made it into the 85 state universities across the country after passing the 2020 state university entrance test (SBMPTN), as announced on Friday.
“There were 167,653 students accepted, or 25 percent of the total number of applicants,” Institution of University Entrance Exams (LTMPT) head Mohammad Nasih said on Friday, as quoted by tempo.co.
This year, 702,420 students applied for the test, with 662,404 of them attending the computer-based exam (UTBK) in person. The exams were held in two batches, from July 5 to 14 and from July 20 to 29.
The UTBK was held at 74 test centers in cities across the archipelago under health protocols such as rapid antibody tests before the exam, body temperature checks, face masks, face shields and gloves and cutting the number of participants in each room and the number of sessions to two from four sessions a day.
Nasih added that among the accepted students, 44,554 were beneficiaries of the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), a government program providing cash assistance to students from low-income families to buy school supplies. (aly)
