Zumba session organizer in East Lombok was slapped with a Rp 400,000 (US$26.90) fine for neglecting the social distancing COVID-19 protocol during its program.
The program, which was attended by hundreds of participants, gained netizens’ attention after a recording of one of its sessions went viral on social media. The participants were also seen not to be wearing masks in the video.
East Lombok regional secretary Juani Taofik confirmed that the event had been running since Sept. 16. However, he was unaware about it since it took place inside a building.

Juani also said he had already notified the organizers.
“Whoever uses public facilities without implementing COVID-19 protocols will be fined. The organizer had paid the fine earlier,” Juani said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.
Lombok Police chief Sr. Comr. Tunggul Sinatrio said the police had not been notified about the program.
“The police didn’t know because the organizer did not ask for our permission,” Tunggul said. (dpk)
