They hope to inoculate 2,500 people in Jakarta from March 8 to 13.
lumni of Kolese Kanisius Catholic high school in Jakarta have launched a vaccination program for the elderly, hoping to inoculate 2,500 people from March 8 to 13.
Jakarta residents over 60 years old may apply for the inoculation through www.kanisiusvaksin.care. The organizers, which include Alumni Menteng 64 (AM 64), the school’s Jakarta alumni association (PAKKJ) and other organizations, said they aimed to inoculate up to 500 people per day.
The vaccination drive is being organized at Kolese Kanisius in Menteng, Central Jakarta, in coordination with the Health Ministry and the Jakarta Health Agency, said AM 64 chairman Irlan Suud.
“We coordinated intensely [with the government] because the vaccines were supplied to us from the Jakarta Health Agency,” Irlan told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday. “We are committed to helping the government distribute the vaccines to the elderly population in Jakarta.”
Irlan added that 400 people had been inoculated on Monday, while 525 people were scheduled to receive the jab on Tuesday.
The vaccination program, he said, was a show of support from the school’s alumni groups for the government’s inoculation drive.
“We are closely following the government’s actions in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, and we support the vaccination [campaign] as a crucial element in tackling the pandemic,” he said.

The government aims to inoculate 21 million elderly people in the second phase of its vaccination program, which is expected to be carried out from February to May.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who observed some vaccinations on Tuesday, commended the organizers’ compliance with health protocols.
“I saw that the COVID-19 vaccination of the elderly at Kolese Kanisius was going well. I have requested that my team at the Health Ministry replicate the [successful techniques] from this vaccination program, such as the usage of the barcode system for the registration of recipients, in other places,” Budi said.
