A large majority of Indonesians are confident in the capability of President Prabowo Subianto to lead the nation in the next five years, the latest survey by pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia has revealed.

President Prabowo Subianto has reiterated his commitment to carry out his flagship free meals program immediately and achieve food self-sufficiency by the end of his administration in 2029. The issues were addressed in Prabowo’s first interview with a local news channel after he was sworn into office on Oct. 20.

As the race for November’s regional elections heats up, competing candidates appear to be pulling out all the stops to ensure a favorable outcome, with some even resorting to exploiting sexist narratives that observers describe as a “serious problem” in Indonesian politics.

Pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia survey reveals that 85.3 percent of Indonesians believe Prabowo can lead the country to a brighter future. The survey sampled 1,200 random individuals with a 2.9 percent margin of error.

The goal is to finish the executive, legislative and judiciary compounds at Nusantara, enabling the annual joint plenary sessions to be held there by 2028, one minister said on Instagram on Saturday.

The minister had told reporters that not all crimes could be categorized as gross human rights violations and that the designation should be reserved for genocide, mass killings and ethnic cleansing.

Basic salaries and allowances for judges have been increased by outgoing president Joko "Jokowi" Widodo just two days before he ended his term.
