Suu Kyi said, "I am always praying for the wellness of all the people" in Myanmar and her party, the National League for Democracy, "will exist as long as the people are there because it has been founded for the people," according to lawyer Min Min Soe.
yanmar's ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi, accused by the country's junta of illegally importing walkie-talkies as well as other offenses, met her defense team Monday for the first time since being detained following the Feb. 1 coup, one of the lawyers told reporters.
Suu Kyi said, "I am always praying for the wellness of all the people" in Myanmar and her party, the National League for Democracy, "will exist as long as the people are there because it has been founded for the people," according to lawyer Min Min Soe.
Min Min Soe and four other lawyers met Suu Kyi in a room in a court building in the capital Naypyitaw but an actual court hearing was not held, the lawyer said.
The 75-year-old ousted leader attended hearings at the Naypyitaw court via videoconferencing in March and April. Suu Kyi has faced several charges at the court, including flouting coronavirus restrictions and spreading information fanning social unrest.
Suu Kyi was separately charged at a Yangon court with violating the country's colonial-era Official Secrets Act.
