3 reasons to get excited for ‘The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition’ on Netflix

T

em>The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition is now available on Netflix, and as the show’s punchline implies, it's certainly not your average Apprentice.

The non-scripted show is a battleground for 16 handpicked candidates from around the globe to vie for a US$250,000 job offer and become the protege of ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong in Singapore.

The candidates will need brains and brawn to earn the ultimate prize as they take part in both physical and business challenges in each episode. As the show premiered on Tuesday, we've listed three major reasons why you should be excited to watch the one-of-its-kind business and sports reality program.

1. Indonesia represents!

Paulina Purnomowati is the sole candidate from Indonesia, and she has all the reasons to make the country proud.

Pungky, as she is affectionately known, is a talented businesswoman with a wealth of experience. Her calm and collected demeanor has carried her through multiple leadership roles in various global companies.

Born and raised in Jakarta, she holds a masters of business administration in international business and marketing from Northeastern University in Boston, the United States. Prior to appearing on the show, she was the country general manager for Valiram Group, the country manager for Inditex Group MAP and the country manager for Global Brands Group Asia Ltd, among other positions.

When she is not in the office, she loves to dance and join various voluntary initiatives. Her business acumen, coupled with her love of sports and outdoor activities, drove her to compete with other skilled candidates from various parts of the globe.

2. Business lessons from world-class CEOs

Business is the main focus of The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition, and it's only fitting that some of the world's most renowned CEOs join the show.

Grab group CEO and cofounder Anthony Tan, Zilingo founder and CEO Ankiti Bose, and Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan are among the top business leaders in the world today. The show also features two of Indonesia's noted businessmen, Karuna Murdaya (director of CCM Group) and Prajna Murdaya (director of Jakarta International Expo), who will mentor and share their experience with the candidates.

With the vast experience they have acquired in the business world and expertise in presenting solutions to tackle some of the world's most pressing problems, their presence is not only beneficial for the candidates but also for the audience in general.

3. The appearance of martial arts world champions

The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition is the first global version of the franchise, and unlike its predecessors, this one offers a unique and distinctive take.

World champions from various martial arts disciplines are making their appearance to test the candidates' strength and physical toughness.

Some of the world's most popular martial artists like Angela Lee, Demetrious Johnson, Ritu Phogat and George St-Pierre, will make sure the candidates face their toughest physical challenges yet.

Moreover, the challenges are presented in a way that can test the candidates’ mental strength and their ability to work in a team, despite knowing that the people beside them are also their competitors.
