Three reasons why ONE Fight Night 1 promises to be an exciting event Demetrious Johnson.

a href="https://thejakartapost.com/tag/one-championship" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">ONE Championship is bringing back-to-back thrillers to the Singapore Indoor Stadium this month, and ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II on Saturday, Aug. 27 looks to be one of the most exciting cards put together by the promotion so far this year.

With World Title showdowns, Grand Prix battles and a grudge match for the ages, the lineup is packed from top to bottom with nonstop action that is sure to satisfy even the most particular combat sports fan.

Before the event kicks off, we break down three reasons why this card is unmissable.

#1 A shot at redemption for Demetrious Johnson

Taking the rematch with Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes was an easy choice for Demetrious Johnson.

The MMA icon has been hoping for a second shot at the longtime flyweight king for some time, and it is not just because he wants the divisional strap.

Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson was handed the first knockout of his illustrious career when he met Moraes for the first time in April 2021, and he has been hoping to earn some redemption ever since.

Evening the score is of utmost importance to Johnson in this highly anticipated main event showdown, and snatching the strap from “Mikinho” would be the cherry on top – so fans can expect fireworks from the MMA GOAT when this goes down.

#2 Liam Harrison seeks to dethrone a Muay Thai legend

British striking veteran Liam “Hitman” Harrison has, arguably, already earned legend status. However, he is not going to rest until he has ONE gold around his waist.

In the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 1, “Hitman” gets to shoot his shot at ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao.

Harrison cemented his meeting with the unbeaten Thai superstar after putting on a jaw-dropping performance against Muangthai “Elbow Zombie” PK Saenchai in April.

He mounted an epic comeback after being knocked down twice in the opening minutes to score three knockdowns of his own on “Elbow Zombie” and walked away with the win before the end of the first round.

Harrison is convinced he is the man that can hand Nong-O his first defeat in the ONE Circle, and fans can bet that he will throw everything at the World Champion to do so.

#3 Marcus Almeida looks to continue unbeaten run in ONE

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida started his MMA journey inside the Circle less than a year ago, but he has already made noticeable waves in the promotion’s heavyweight division.

“Buchecha” has a perfect slate of 3-0, with three first-round finishes, and he will be looking to extend that impressive run further when he takes on former ONE World Title challenger Kirill Grishenko on Aug. 27.

The 32-year-old star has used both his vast grappling knowledge and heavy hands to secure victory against some top competition in the ever-growing heavyweight division. If he can earn a win against his Belarusian foe next week, he will undoubtedly put himself into World Title contention.

Before the action goes down at ONE Fight Night 1, be sure to check out ONE 160: Ok vs. Lee II, the organization's next event, which airs live on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 6:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Friday, Aug. 26.

The main card will follow on NETVERSE, Vidio.com, Kaskus TV and MAXstream at 7:30 p.m. WIB. In addition, NET TV will air a same-day delay at 10:30 p.m. WIB.
