y the end of ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs. Lee III on Saturday morning, not one fan was sitting in their seat inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium, especially not after the main event trilogy thriller between two of ONE Championship’s most dominant female titleholders.

The headliner of the Oct. 1 event saw Chinese superstar Xiong Jing Nan successfully defending her ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title against rival and atomweight queen Angela Lee for the second time – and the bout was well worth the wait.

Xiong scored with her boxing early into the proceedings, forcing Lee to scramble for composure. She found it quickly, however, and then went on the attack for the next four rounds.

“The Panda” kept up a similarly aggressive pace, leading to a fiery back-and-forth battle. In the end, it was the defending World Champion who got the nod from the judges via unanimous decision. Xiong now has a jaw-dropping seven World Title defenses to her name.

In a prelude to that showdown, Mikey Musumeci became the inaugural ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion by defeating old foe Cleber Sousa in their own trilogy battle.

The Italian-American phenom consistently attacked Sousa’s legs and heels, sniffing and hunting for submissions and registering two catches with the referee. At the end of the 10-minute grappling bout, the judges awarded “Darth Rigatoni” a unanimous decision, crowning him ONE’s first-ever submission grappling World Champion in the process.

In total, two US$50,000 bonuses were awarded at the event, both to promotional debutants. Halil Amir earned one for his second-round finish of Timofey Nastyukhin, and Ilya Freymanov scored some extra cash for his first-round TKO of former two-division ONE World Champion Martin Nguyen.
