otel Indonesia Group (HIG), a hospitality subsidiary of state-owned hotel operator Hotel Indonesia Natour (HIN), is readying the hotels under its hospitality brand to accommodate participants and spectators of the Grand Prix of Lake Toba-Indonesia, the final round of this year’s UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.

The international racing event is set to take place on Nov. 22-25 to 26 at Lake Toba, North Sumatra.

"Preparations continue to be made by various parties to support the smooth running of the 2023 Aquabike World Championship, including the Hotel Indonesia Group. We are also ensuring the readiness of the hotels we manage," HIN vice president corporate secretary Adianta Apriadi said on Thursday in Jakarta.

Adianta also encouraged water sports enthusiasts to arrange their accommodation immediately as the event drew closer.

The Aquabike championship is the second world water sport championship to be held at the volcanic lake, after the Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship in February.

The Lake Toba Grand Prix is expected to bring a wave of economic benefits to North Sumatra, particularly to the communities around Lake Toba, through increased demand for accommodation, transportation and food services from a large number of both domestic and foreign visitors.

"The presence of this event provides infinite promotional support to the Indonesian economy, especially for the people around the Lake Toba region," said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno.
