Y

outh and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has shown his appreciation of the 2024 Santini JebreeetMedia Awards for recognizing the achievements of Indonesian sports figures.

The minister has called JebreeetMedia an important driver for Indonesian sports, noting that the ministry had collaborated with the media firm on several occasions.

“We have been working together with JebreeetMedia on volleyball and badminton for the past two years. They’re one of the drivers of the nation’s development in sports,” Dito said in a statement issued by the ministry on Sept. 27.

He also lauded the awards as an occasion to motivate more athletes, coaches and others involved in various sports throughout the country to keep making positive contributions in their respective fields.

Santini Group teamed up with JebreeetMedia again this year for the second edition of the Santini JebreeetMedia Awards ceremony which was held on Sept. 26. The awards selected athletes, sports observers, content creators and media organizations deemed to have had a significant impact on the promotion of sports over the past year.

There were 21 award categories this year, an increase from last year’s 14 categories, when nominations were not gender-segregated.

Winners were chosen based on votes from visitors to the JebreeetMedia website, with voting open from Aug. 26 to Sept. 25, before the Sept. 26 awards ceremony.

Among the winners were Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, a volleyball player who won in the favorite female athlete category after rising to fame while playing for South Korean team Daejeon Red Sparks. Soccer player Rizky Ridho won the favorite male athlete award.

Currently led by Lukito and Emmanuel “Wandi” Wanandi, Santini Group was founded by Sofjan Wanandi, the brother of Jusuf Wanandi, the CEO of The Jakarta Post’s publisher PT Bina Media Tenggara.
