View all search resultsLaw and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly has come under fire for what critics say is an alleged attempt by the senior Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician to cover up the whereabouts of a fugitive suspect of a high-profile corruption case that implicates fellow members of his political party.
The admission came amid allegations the PDI-P, the largest party in the ruling coalition, is tampering with the investigation into the case, which reportedly implicates the party’s secretary-general, Hasto Kristiyanto.
Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly -- a fellow PDI-P politician -- previously said that Harun "is not in Indonesia" when asked for confirmation by journalists on Jan. 16
Don’t you realize, Pak? Crime is not necessarily caused by poverty. Take a look at those corrupt [officials]. They are not our people, they are not from our place [Tanjung Priok],” one protester said
