"The 16 Marines were arrested for alleged involvement in various illegal activities ranging from human smuggling to drug-related offenses. Information gained from a previous human smuggling investigation precipitated the arrests," the military said in a statement.
The suspects were nabbed in a raid at Lost City Club, a new nightclub in the area, on Friday early morning. Iersel, 38, is believed to be the club manager while Cabantog, 36, reportedly used to work as a manager at nightclubs in Australia.
In a statement to the city's stock exchange, Camsing said the board became aware Friday that Lo Ching, who was also an executive director, was "currently being held in criminal custody" by the Yangpu Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau.
