View all search resultsThe House of Representatives has made its formal decision on the Constitutional Court ruling mandating separate national and local elections starting in 2029, as parties are still reviewing the justices’ decision.
Many voters refrained from going to polling stations to cast votes for this year's simultaneous regional elections, with observers and election organizers mostly blaming disasters and political exhaustion as factors discouraging people from voting.
When vote counting started a few hours after the polls closed on Feb. 14, local poll administrators (KPPS) and members of the public voiced complaints on social media about irregularities in vote count data on Sirekap, which is accessible through the KPU’s official website.
The 2024 general election remains mired in uncertainty, with the government proposing to move the presidential and legislative elections closer to the regional elections, sparking concerns about overlapping cycles and a heavier workload on organizers, thus undermining the quality and fairness of the elections.
Based on agency reports, the list of infected election organizers includes, among others, members of the South Solok KPU branch in West Sumatra and representatives in East Kalimantan’s Kutai Kartanegara and Bontang regencies.
