View all search resultsThe European Commission on Tuesday imposed countervailing duties of 8 percent to 18 percent on imports of subsidized biodiesel from Indonesia, saying the move aimed to restore a level playing field for European Union producers.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has asked stakeholders to speed up the mandatory proportion of diesel blended with crude palm oil (CPO) from 20 (B20) to 30 percent (B30) by January next year, and 50 percent (B50) by the end of 2020, hence pushing up the domestic use of palm oil.Coincidentally, China will remove import tariffs for palm oil in a move that will open up new markets for Indonesian palm oil.
Gapki’s data shows that CPO exports in April fell 18 percent month-to-month from 2.96 million tons in March. Meanwhile, in May 2.79 million tons of CPO were exported, a 14 percent increase from April.
