“Muslims in areas with a high number of [COVID-19] cases are advised to refrain from performing Friday and regular prayers in public places,” Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) deputy chairman Muhyiddin said on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
The Jakarta administration has called on all Muslims living in Jakarta’s red zones to avoid mass prayers during Idul Adha (Day of Sacrifice), which is expected to fall on July 31, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
