Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil has said that his ministry will be able to certify 5 million plots of land this year as targeted by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the Finance Ministry will disburse extra funds for the program.
President Joko “Jokowi” will issue in the coming weeks a presidential regulation on land distribution as part of his administration’s agrarian reform program to improve the welfare of farmers, Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said on Sunday.
Agrarian and Spatial Minister Sofyan Djalil and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati will soon discuss regulations for the progressive taxes to be imposed on idle land to make the land more productive that were announced previously.
During the two years of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration, the government has managed to certify only 660,000 out of a targeted 9 million hectares of land as set out in the 2015-2019 National Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
