Springfield, Massachusetts in the United States will become home to the world’s first permanent Dr. Seuss museum on June 3rd.
Dubbed the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss, the museum will be a part of the Springfield Museums group and will be dedicated to Springfield native Theodore Geisel.
There, visitors will be able to explore the space dedicated to Geisel’s life and work as a children’s author, complete with a replica of his former home decorated with the illustrations he once drew on his walls.
“Geisel was all about the fact that reading should be fun, and although everything here is underlain with the idea of learning, it’s really about being able to learn and have fun at the same time,” said Karen Fisk, Springfield Museums’ director of public relations and marketing, to Travel+Leisure.

“People from all over the world would come to see the sculptures and always asked about the museum and for years we always said there isn’t one, but it remained the number one requested attraction at the museum, so we decided to create it,” Fisk said, in reference to the sculptures that are displayed in the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden.
Children will be able to bake pies in a Seuss bakery between exploring sections like Readingville, a section for Geisel’s most popular books, like Horton Hears a Who, Oh the Places You’ll Go! and Cat in the Hat. (sul/kes)
