oordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut  Binsar Pandjaitan inaugurated two ships, KRI Dewaruci and KRI Bima, on Nov. 21 from the JICT 2 Terminal Dock, Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.

The two ships carrying 768 passengers will travel to Sabang and Weh Island for Sail Sabang 2017 event that will be held from Nov. 28 until Dec. 5.

Luhut said that the passengers can feel proud of the beautiful Indonesia. He also suggested that the development should be done on the outskirts as well. “The benefit from the development should not be felt by the people in Java only, it should be distributed to all Indonesians,” Luhut said. 

From the economic side, it is estimated that Indonesia can earn 1.33 trillion dollars from marine tourism. Tourism sector currently has the second biggest foreign exchange achievement right after palm oil and it’s predicted that tourism will take the number one spot in 2019. (asw)
