“Alhough the activity in Mount Agung is still at the highest level and it has generally caused a decrease in the number of tourists, we are still conducting tourism promotion. Nusa Penida is still safe and worthy to be visited, especially with the reopening of Ngurah Rai International Airport,” told Klungkung Regent I Nyoman Suwitra.

Throughout the four-day celebration, Nusa Dua Festival 2017 is going to combine art and culture with water sports through activities such as sailing, snorkeling, surfing, international surfing competition, canoeing competition, diving, beach cleanup and the planting of coral reefs.

Additionally, this event will feature ngaturang pekelem ritual and tour and discussion on tourism in the midst of Mount Agung eruption.

He added that the activity will show that tourism and everyday lives of the people of Bali still go as usual. The ones who are affected are those who live in a certain radius from the top of Mount Agung.

The danger zone is eight kilometers from the top of the mountain and 10 kilometers to the north, northeast, southeast, south and southwest.

Nusa Penida has several popular tourist attractions such as Broken Beach, also known as Pasih UUG Beach and Atuh Beach; Seganing Waterfall; Gunung Cening Temple; Manta Bay and Angels Billabong. (kes)
