Komodo Island has been well known in the international scene and visited by popular figures such as motorcycle road racer Valentino Rossi who traveled to Komodo Island in January this year.

omodo Island in East Nusa Tenggara was named one of the “10 Unexpected Places to Travel This Summer” by American fashion and lifestyle publication Vogue.
“Visitors can hike volcanoes, enjoy diving lessons in coral atolls, try paddleboard yoga, swim with whale sharks, visit villages to witness traditional weaving, get up close to mighty Komodo dragons, and, of course, unwind and master the art of chilling,” wrote the publication.
Other places that made into the list include Sifnos in Greece, Faroe Islands, Adelaide in Australia, Portugal, Åland Islands in Finland, Copenhagen in Denmark, Tofino in British Columbia, Namibia, and Baca California in Mexico.
Komodo Island has been well known in the international scene and visited by popular figures such as motorcycle road racer Valentino Rossi who traveled to Komodo Island in January this year.
Additionally, Rossi also visited Labuan Bajo.
In the Vogue article, Tom Marchant, the cofounder and owner of travel company Black Tomato, recommends the Dunia Baru vessel built from Indonesian teak as the place to stay.
Meanwhile, the founder and CEO of membership-based luxury travel company Indagare, Melissa Bradley, recommends readers to stay at Nihiwatu in Sumba.
Indonesia’s national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, offers a direct flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. Sriwijaya Air also offers flights for the same route. (kes)
