Agoda bookings reveal 2018’s top travel destinations in Asia, Europe, America

nline travel agent Agoda published the list of the most popular cities in Asia, Europe and America on Monday. The list was compiled according to booking data collated from Jan. 1 to Nov. 11.
Bali ranks ninth in the Asian cities category, with most visitors coming from other islands in Indonesia, as well as Australia, China, Singapore and Malaysia. This charming travel destination, often dubbed a tropical paradise, however, is only the second favorite city in Indonesia, below Jakarta.
Following Bali, other top cities in Indonesia include Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Malang.
While Bali is the second top destination in Indonesia, however, it tops the list of Australia’s top 10 destinations, above Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
Bali also makes it to number eight in the top destination cities booked from the United Kingdom, while maintaining its popularity among travelers from China, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, the United States and Japan.

Agoda points out that Japan, ranking first among the countries of Asia, has something for every traveler, from ephemeral sights like cherry blossoms to quirky experiences such as robot cafes. Agoda mentions that Tokyo and Osaka are attracting adventurous explorers from across Asia and the globe.
The list names London and Paris as the top two cities in Europe, respectively, Istanbul is also said to be quickly gaining popularity, climbing four ranks up to fifth most-booked city in Europe since 2016. Being the only city in the world that straddles Europe and Asia, with over 2,500 years of history, rich culture and remarkable sites, Istanbul seems to be the city to watch out for for travel addicts.
Meanwhile, among the cities that are growing more popular in America are Phoenix with its year-round sun and Houston, known for its southern hospitality. They rank seventh and eighth, respectively. Party city Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York reign in the top three spots in the US’ most popular cities. (mut)
